Come Stay With Us
Skimmelberg Getaway is a renovated self-catering farmhouse that was built in 1990, set on a working rooibos tea, Buchu and citrus farm, between Citrusdal and Clanwilliam. This is a lovely getaway for a family or a group of friends, but is perfectly suitable for a couple as well, and is just 200 km from Cape Town on the N7.
This characterful old house can accommodate up to 8 guests, and is an ideal self-catering getaway, where you can unwind and experience the beauty and tranquillity of the natural surroundings of the greater Cederberg area. The house is very well equipped, but light breakfasts can be provided on request. We have credit card facilities on site.
The house has 4 double bedrooms, 1 with full en-suite and the other 3 bedrooms sharing a full bathroom with a separate toilet. The open-plan living area has comfortable seating, as well as a 8-seater dining room table. There is also a well-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The rooms all have heaters, and bed linen and towels are provided. The house has an indoor fireplace, as well as braai facilities outside. Firewood is available for sale on the farm.
In our farm office, we offer a lovely product shop where we invite you to browse through our range of delicious teas and souvenirs. Enjoy hiking, swimming in the farm dam, bird watching, rock art paintings and long walks on scenic farm roads. The farm itself and wider area is also popular with rock climbers, anglers and mountain bike enthusiasts. The endemic Cape Fynbos and various game and bird species also contribute to the experience of being in the wilderness of the Skimmelberg Nature Reserve.
Rooibos and Buchu Tours - A trip to Skimmelberg is a journey into organic farming at its best. Skimmelberg's farming operations take place on the doorstep of the Skimmelberg Nature Reserve. To see the real magic of behind what makes this totally organic product range so special, you have to visit the farm. The tour features the Skimmelberg farm, nursery, Buchu distillery, wormery, our shop for tea tasting and products.
The farm with its Rooibos tea lands, Buchu plantations and Citrus orchards is set on top of a mountain range in the Skimmelberg Nature Reserve. Around you the mountainsides are untouched and indigenous fauna and flora abound, like the Queen Magnifica, small game, many bird species and even the elusive Cape Leopard, which is now a protected species. Skimmelberg is the ideal place to really get away from it all. The natural beauty and tranquility is truly a gift to your soul.
